Q7. The tropical rainforest has a large population of animals. Explain why it is so.

The tropical rainforest is located near the equator that has a hot and humid climate. It also rains heavily in tropical areas. Temperate areas have warm summer and cold winter.
Q8. Explain, with examples, why we find animals of certain kind living in particular climatic conditions.
Answer: Animals can live in different places around the world because they have a special adaptation to survive in the habitat they live in. To live in a particular place in a particular environment, animals develop some special features or characteristics to protect themselves against climate. This is the reason that we find the animal of a certain kind of living in a particular climatic condition.
Example: Polar Bear in polar regions: Their white fur helps them to blend in with snow and protects them from their predators. It also helps them to catch their prey. They have a strong sense of smell to locate their enemy and prey. A polar bear has a layer of fat under its skin called blubber which provides additional insulation and helps it to stay warm. It also has a thick layer of fur to survive in an extremely cold climate.
Q9. How does an elephant living in the tropical rainforest adapt itself?
Answer: Following are the adaption of elephant living in the tropical rainforest:
- The massive size of the elephants protects it from predators.
- Elephant have trunk which helps them to eat food.
- Their tusks help them to survive through dry spells, as they use them to bore down into the earth and find and find water in the dry riverbed.
